If you love exploring the Wisconsin landscape and supporting conservation implementation, we’re looking for you! This full-time staff position will provide technical support by visiting the lands of women farmers and landowners, carrying out land walks, and writing conservation plans for WiWiC’s ten tri-county clusters in Wisconsin. This role requires a strong conservation background, as well as project management and self-organization skills.

Conservation Plan Writer Full-time position (remote, Wisconsin-based)

Position Summary

The position serves on the Wisconsin Women in Conservation team and provides technical support through writing conservation land plans for women landowners throughout the state. A key focus and deliverable of WiWiC is supporting women landowners in developing these conservation plans. The Conservation Plan Writer works directly with the WiWiC Coordinators that cover different regions throughout the state in connecting with and developing these relationships with women landowners.

This is a full-time position managed through the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, the project lead in this NRCS-supported project. With WiWiC, a fully Wisconsin-based project, preference is given to someone also based in Wisconsin for this position.

WiWiC is a state-wide collaborative effort led by the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute in partnership with Wisconsin Farmers Union, Renewing the Countryside and Marbleseed. A five-year multi-faceted project currently in its third year and funded by the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), WiWiC brings together Wisconsin women landowners to connect and learn about conservation practices, resources, and funding opportunities.

With the WiWiC program now established and with a successful three-year history, this new Conservation Plan Writer position will join a project team with a solid track-record and systems already set-up.
